Lundy Trial to Feature in TV3 Documentary
The FACTUAL Committee has been made aware that a programme called " What's Your Verdict?" which re-enacts the trial of Mark Lundy is to be screened on TV3 on Thursday 31st March at 8.30pm. For reasons of fairness to the original jury, Mark Lundy, our committee, and the High Court, have declined the approach from the Gibson Group to be involved in the making of this programme.
The FACTUAL Committee, whose aim is to establish the TRUTH, was formed following the incarceration of Mark Lundy. It consists of a team of experts and concerned citizens from throughout New Zealand, who believe that the guilty verdict is unsafe.
Our further investigations and research have shown that the original jury was given incomplete and misleading information with which to reach its verdict. Our concern is that this media jury has been given this same inadequate material.
Despite our serious misgivings about this programme, we welcome the opportunity to have the plight of Mark Lundy brought to the forefront of people's attention. Any outcome from this mock jury, at the least, must stimulate informed discussion.
